Valkyrie

January 17, 2009

Now without wishing to cloud any ones feelings on the film. I have to say I preferred Night of the Generals. Ever Since Cruises Manic performance and his over eager preaching about Scientology his stock has gone down for me. How a religious fanatic can be lined up to portray one of the few true hero’s that Germany had during world war 2 is beyond me. How Tom “I am the Messiah after obamamessiah” Cruise can be taken with any credibility is beyond any stretch of credibility. That saying It’s a nice film, if only it didn’t have a Tom in it

Tom Cruise-Valkyrie

The German Protestant Church has attacked Tom Cruise over his Scientology beliefs, likening the actor to the Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels.

In the film “Valkyrie,” Cruise plays World War II hero Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg, the man in charge of an unsuccessful plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler.

It’s been said that the German Protestant Church is comparing Cruise to Goebbels because of his zealous and outspoken nature. A spokesman for the church, Thomas Gandow, called Scientology a “totalitarian organization” and went so far as to say Cruise was the “Goebbels of Scientology”.

Gandow also said,

“This film (Rubicon) will have the same propaganda advantages for Scientology as the 1936 Olympics had for the Nazis.”

Also Interesting are new reports that the title of the film has been changed from the original “Valkyrie” to the new “Rubicon,” however IMDB still has the film listed under the original title. It could be listed as “Rubicon” somewhere else on the site, but I couldn’t find it when I did a search for “Tom Cruise,” or “Valkyrie,” and the only films listed under the title “Rubicon” were older films. Maybe they will update the title later.

Stranger still are reports that Phillip von Schulthess, a grandson of the late Claus von Stauffenberg, will play a role in the film.  Earlier reports were that the family of von Stauffenberg were against the making of the film because Tom Cruise – who is a devout Scientologist – would be playing the lead.

My Opinion:

While I actually admit to liking Tom Cruise in some films, others leave me decidedly underwhelmed. Now I have no problems with a mans religion but recent “outbursts ” have let me to the conclusion that either Mr Cruise is a pod person or in fact totally insane. But hey you know that’s my opinion.
